Earnest Hemingway's Swimming Pool
Earnest Hemingway was an avid boxer and had a boxing ring in his back yard where we spent a lot of time training and sparing with local boxers. When he was off as a war correspondent, his wife heard about his extra-marital affairs and had the ring taken down an a luxurious swimming pools installed. In 1938, the swimming pool cost $20,000 to install. That is equal to about $365,000 in 2019.
